For everyone's benefit, we can only see you if you have booked an appointment; ring reception on 01223 461381. Emergency and introductory appointments are available every day if you need care urgently.
We have a 'continental' working pattern which means you can book appointments first thing in the morning (to avoid the worst of Cambridge traffic); during most people's normal lunch break; and after work on some weekdays. We try to keep after-school appointments clear for children on Monday and Thursday afternoons so that there is no need for them to miss school time.
We are closed on Saturday and Sunday.
New patients are always welcome - and if you're in pain we'll try to see you on the day you contact us. Be aware that under General Dental Council Regulations, if you come to us as a new patient, we're not able to book you in for a hygienist's appointment without seeing one of our dentists first. To read the section of this website especially aimed at new patients, click here.
When you return for a checkup or further treatment, we'll do our best to arrange a date and time to suit you. We'll then write to remind you - or if you prefer we'll send an e-mail or SMS.
Access and home visits
Our surgery is equipped to cater for you if you're wheelchair-bound or have limited mobility. If you can't attend the surgery at all due to long-term ill-health and you live within the Cambridge area, we can carry out simple treatments at home.
Dental emergencies do happen and can be unpleasant and worrying. So that you can get help quickly, we now have a dedicated 24-hour number which will seamlessly connect you to one of our team of dentists - you can use this whether or not you're registered with us. Ring 01223 461381.
As to fees, if you can come and see us during normal surgery hours, we charge our usual rates. If you can't wait for surgery hours, we do have to charge you a call-out fee of £176 when you book; any further fee for consultation or treatment will be charged in addition when you come to the surgery. If you're on our Oral Health Membership Plan, you don't pay any emergency call-out fees, only normal treatment fees.
For some appointments, it's unclear what treatment you'll need - perhaps you're a new patient, or we haven't seen you for a while, or you're in pain but we don't know in advance what the problem is. Here we charge you a consultation fee, agreed in advance but any investigations such as x-rays or immediate treatment will be charged on top.
For routine appointments like checkups, or for appointments that have been made for a particular treatment such as a filling, we usually know the costs involved. In this case, we're able to charge a fixed fee and can tell you this in advance when you book your treatment. We provide written estimates for all treatments; for our scale of fees click here.
For very long or complex appointments and for new patients, we'll charge an advance fee; if you then miss an appointment that part of your advance fee may not be refundable.
If you break or cancel your appointment we have to charge you a fee unless we can use the time for another patient. However we do accept that missed appointments are often beyond reasonable control and in this event we try to be sympathetic.
