Co-Treatment Course
Diagnosis and treatment planning for patients with temporomandibular dysfunction in a clinical setting.
As a dentist, you are likely to see every day in practice patients who have some degree of temporomandibular dysfunction.
Are you able to put your knowledge into practice and confidently identify, diagnose and formulate a realistic treatment plan for those patients? Often the main difficulty is in presenting the information to the patient and encouraging them to consider treatment to address the causes of their problems.
This course is designed to help each delegate understand and confidently identify the underlying functional problems in order to provide effective and reliable treatments for patients, then to communicate these treatments effectively to the patient.
The course gives each delegate the opportunity to diagnose and complete the clinical records for one patient as well as observing several consultations. Delegates may bring a patient of their own or attend for a diagnosis of their own function. Treatment plans will be drawn up for all the patients, the presentation of these plans will be considered, and advice will be given on fee-structuring and delivery of treatment.
The courses are led by Helen Harrison, together with her support staff at the Granta Dental practice in Cambridge. Helen has a wealth of experience treating TMD patients of all ages based on 27 years clinical practice as a general dental practitioner. Her caseload is now 90% temporomandibular therapy utilising biometric records, splints, orthopaedic appliances, orthodontics and restorative treatments. She has also developed a particular expertise in explaining the issues to patients in a way that fully enrols them in the treatment plan.
The course fee covers the cost of records taken on the day and is roughly equivalent to Granta Dental’s fees for a full diagnosis and treatment plan for a patient seen on referral. Delegates are limited to a maximum of 8 per course.
If you want to access this rich seam of treatment need in your own patients and utilise your theoretical knowledge fully, please contact Dr Harrison.
