Preventing and protecting

We much prefer to prevent and protect rather than to treat!

So we offer a number of techniques that can give you advance warning of future problems. These include computerised bite analysis and joint vibration analysis to measure how well your mouth is functioning, plus saliva testing to predict your possible risk of dental decay.

We can then act in advance of problems. We can adjust your jaws and teeth to guard against problems caused by misalignment; click on the links for more information on jaw joint treatment, orthopaedics and orthodontics, and tooth grinding. We can also protect your teeth and gums from infection with fissure sealants, ozone treatment, and photo-activated (laser) disinfection.

You may be particularly vulnerable to dental damage if you have an active lifestyle; we can provide specialist protective mouthwear. And if you're vulnerable because of illness, we can advise you on how to maintain your best oral health during and after treatment and while taking medication; to read our guidance on oral cancer, click here and if you're suffering ill-health of any kind, do ask for personalised advice.

We're especially committed to helping you understand prevention and protection and what you can do. Do read the sections of this site on Hygienist visits, Maintaining your oral health, Oral development, and Understanding oral problems - then come back to us with any questions or queries you may have. We'll also always talk through, after each examination or treatment, what you can be doing to help yourself.
