Porcelain veneers

There are many situations in which the teeth are healthy and sound but the appearance is a problem and requires some correction. In the simplest cases tooth whitening and enamel polishing techniques can correct marks and blemishes to produce a very satisfactory result.
More serious disfigurement of teeth and reshaping can be achieved with a variety of different tooth veneers.
Veneers range from directly placed facings bonded to the tooth surface and polished in situ to porcelain veneers made in a laboratory and bonded to a prepared surface of the tooth. The porcelains used vary according to the particular situation. Some porcelain veneers can be made as thin as a contact lens; they are very translucent and require little or no preparation of the tooth prior to fitting. At the other end of the scale, custom made porcelain can be manufactured to mask even the most darkly stained teeth and provide some strength to support damaged or cracked teeth. These veneers require some considerable tooth preparation before they can be fitted.
A full dental examination is required in order to determine the appropriate approach and compile a personal quote.
