Computer Bite Analysis

When you bite together, the way your teeth meet (occlusion) should ideally be simultaneous, stable, and with little force so that the load is spread.

Computer bite analysis

When this doesn't happen, your occlusion is unbalanced and you can get problems:

  • flattened, worn teeth
  • teeth that are sensitive to hot and cold
  • clicking, grinding, buzzing in your ears
  • difficulty opening or closing your mouth
  • tense and cramped jaw muscles
  • receding gums
  • joint pain
  • tooth pain
  • problems with dentures
  • early and repeated failure of fillings
  • broken or lost crowns and bridges
  • early failure of implants
  • loosening of teeth
  • loss of teeth

We can measure your bite by using computerised analysis which is more accurate than more traditional methods; we use T-Scan, a computer occlusal recording system that identifies the position and force of your teeth as you bring them together.

The examination is easy. You simply bite down on a thin sensor, which is comfortably shaped to fit the arch of your mouth. A 3D graphical display of your bite is available immediately so that we can see what the problem is.

After analysis, we can suggest treatment that can help readjust your bite and so get rid of any problems. We can then repeat the analysis at later dates to make sure the treatment is effective and check whether you need further work.
